Rich Nicastro, PhD is a licensed psychologist and marriage/couples counselor in Georgetown, Texas. He has worked with hundreds of individuals and couples on a wide range of relationship issues for over two decades.

Dr. Nicastro received his doctorate in psychology from the New School for Social Research in New York City. After getting his PhD, he completed a two-year post-doc training at the Traumatic Stress Institute/Center for Adult and Adolescent Psychology in Connecticut. It was during his advanced training that he was introduced to relational models of therapy and the power of relationships to heal our deepest wounds. He conducted research on the therapeutic alliance in working with adults struggling to overcome the effects of childhood abuse.

His therapy work focuses on helping individuals and couples connect on a deeper level and uncovering barriers that may be getting in their way. He is especially interested in exploring how our relationship histories shape our capacity for intimacy and the ways they impact our attempts to connect with our spouse/partner.

In 2007 Dr. Nicastro created Strengthen Your Relationship as a way to help individuals and couples acquire the tools they need to achieve meaningful connection in their relationships. Along with writing for Strengthen Your Relationship and creating self-help books for couples, Dr. Nicastro contributes articles to numerous marriage and relationship advice blogs and national magazines.

In addition to his psychotherapy practice in Georgetown, Texas, Dr. Nicastro conducts workshops and hosts a podcast on a variety of marital and relationship topics, including effective couples communication, intimacy-building, healing from infidelity, and men’s intimacy issues.
